You may be aware that ACTS delivers the Dementia Day Service on behalf of South Tyneside Council, we see at first hand the effects dementia has on both the sufferers and those that care about them. Dementia affects more than 850,000 people in the UK.
Now with the “Join Dementia Research” service people can play their part in beating dementia. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society have developed the service that allows people to register their interest in participating in dementia research and be matched to suitable studies.
Research offers hope. Only through research can we understand what causes dementia diseases, develop effective treatments and improve the care of those living with dementia.
