Bowls for Health

Fame at last as ACTS Bowls For Health Group goes global!
Group 1 from the Bowls For Health Programme met up in July at South Shields Indoor Bowling Centre (SSIBC), to start their own independent group as members of SSIBC. The group were keen to meet up with each other again and were also pleasantly surprised to see they had been featured in an article for the Bowls International magazine.
The feedback from the first group has been very positive, with all participants stating that the programme has improved their social life. Thanks again go out to our partners at RISE North East, Bowls Development Alliance and South Shields IBC for funding, organising and hosting the programme.
The latest group started Thursday 8th September, if would like to join the next intake, please phone ACTS on 0191 456 6903 and ask to speak to the Community Development Team.
Souter Lighthouse Allotments (26th August)
This “lets get started” open day went very well with volunteers turning up and begining to turn the 2 allotments into somethibg special. This initiative is the result of the partnership between ACTS, Seascapes and the National Trust. The National trust donated the allotments to the partners. Hopefully it won’t be too long before the plots are productive

Remember ACTS can work with you to get something going in your area; if you’ve always fancied having a local history group, or a crafters session, or some Pilates, contact our Community Development Team ( phone: 0191 456 6903 ) and they’ll help you to get it going, by advertising, finding a place to meet, finding a group lead if needed and anything else which will help you to get what you want going on your own doorstep.
