One to One Support
Understanding modern technology and going online can open up a world of opportunity to support you as you grow old.
You can access lots of useful information to help you to make informed decisions, meet like-minded people through forums, stay in touch with family and friends through social media, save money on comparison websites and even order your shopping so it arrives at your door helping you to keep your independence and stay at home for longer.
Our young volunteers provide one to one support to help you to learn about the benefits of going online and basic computing within the comfort of your own home. We’ll even bring the equipment to help you learn.
If you would like some support and are unable to make one of our courses, please contact us on 0191 456 6903 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Digital Support for Those with Dementia
Older people with dementia and their carers can receive one to one support to explore personal interests or hobbies online to help them to learn basic computing skills before receiving support to access ‘Staying Healthy with NHS Choices’ and ‘GP Services Online’ courses on UK Online Centre’s Learn My Way.
We will teach them how to access health information using digital technology to help them to register with their GP, book appointments with their GP, order repeat prescriptions, find information on NHS Choices to check symptoms or even review local GP practices.
Older people will benefit from developing basic online skills to support them to complete practical tasks online such as shopping, banking and communicating with family and friends through Skype and social media, enabling them to remain as independent as possible in later life.
