Steven Duckworth -Vice-Chair
Steven has worked in the NHS- as both a clinician and manager- for twenty five years; throughout that time, his main focus was within older people’s services. Steven has a background in lecturing; research and policy development mainly in the area of stroke care, but more recently this has extended to issues of mental health, dementia and cancer. He is currently the Head of Quality for NHS England in Cumbria and the North East.
Helen’s 18 year career has been spent developing and delivering support solutions for Older People so that they can remain as independent as possible within their own home. She received her BSc from Sunderland University before starting her career with Sunderland City Council’s Residential Care Service and is currently a Supported Housing Manager.
Cameron was born in South Shields, grew up in Sunderland and now lives near Durham. He is a management consultant having worked in the NHS across the country for over 25 years in a variety of Chief Executive and Director roles. He is married to Sharon, a community midwife, and has two grown up children.
Ray Staward – Treasurer
Ray is a chartered public finance and chartered certified accountant with experience of local and central Government, the health and education sectors and the water industry in the UK and overseas. A retired member of the Chartered Management Institute, he has worked within several Tyneside councils and with Newcastle Area Health Authority, Sunderland and South Shields Water Company, the Audit Commission and Northumbria University, as well as working in a range of senior accountancy and audit roles internationally.
Ray was a governor at South Tyneside College for eight years, and he is the Independent Person for South Tyneside Council, maintaining standards of conduct among elected members. He is currently a Director of Ridgeway Academy Trust, South Shields.
