Our Governance

Cameron Ward - Chair

ACTS is a Registered Charity which is governed by a Board of Trustees; our Board is made up of local older people who understand what matters to older people here; and also, people with experience of working within
the NHS, Social Services, the financial sector, and management.

Good governance and financial viability are essential to build a strong organisation, providing the knowledge, security, and reassurance that ACTS is well run and supported to move forward.

It is the Board’s responsibility to make sure ACTS, as an organisation, is in the best possible position to deliver its strategic objectives.

The Board ensures that:

ACTS is financially accountable for the money it receives, either from contracts or as grants or donations

ACTS spends money carefully to get the best outcomes for older people

ACTS follows all the relevant legislation, in terms of Health. and Safety and Employment Law

Its Trustees monitor how well ACTS delivers its activities, putting plans in place to ensure this is effective and efficient.

Cameron is an independent management consultant working in the public and voluntary sectors.

He has previously spent over 25 years in the NHS working in various parts of England in a number of executive positions.

Born in South Shields and with family in the borough he has close connections with South Tyneside. Cameron has been an ACTS Trustee since 2017
